graphic design
My graphic design background falls largely in the digital realm, though I do have extensive experience in layout for printed publications. These days I enjoy creating graphics for social media that help to tell deeper stories or connect with audiences. A few favorite designs are below.
instagram — the benedum center chandelier
This series of Instagram Story slides showcased key facts from a longer blog post about the Benedum Center’s chandelier, with the goal of getting followers to click over to the full story. In addition to designing the collection of slides, I also shot all of the photography used. The source story was written by Kayla Washko.
social media campaign — broadway bracket brawl
As in-person theater began to return in late 2021, the Pittsburgh’s Cultural Trust’s Digital Marketing team wanted to reengage our Broadway fanbase and get them excited for shows again. To do so we ran a March Madness-esque competition called “Broadway Bracket Brawl.” I designed an entire package of assets to support the campaign, from a Instagram Story voting slides and recap graphics to a logo and the bracket participants filled out. The month-long contest garnered tens of thousands of votes and nearly half a million impressions.
magazine layout — off the bluff
During my senior year of college I served as Editor in Chief of Off The Bluff, a magazine produced by Duquesne University students in Dr. Mike Dillon’s Magazine Journalism course. Part of that role included laying out the entire magazine. I decided to start from scratch and produced a completely new layout, cover to cover. I also contributed a significant amount of photography to the project, including the cover.
instagram — thanksgiving post
I designed this simple series of graphics as a community thank you for Thanksgiving 2019. The design took advantage of Instagram’s main feed gallery feature, which lets users seamlessly swipe through the unbroken design.
instagram — weekly calendar
This weekly calendar is posted to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Instagram account every Monday and includes links to all of the shows for the next seven days. I designed the opening and closing slides, as well as a reusable template to slot show information into.
